Tunnel.ai collects no data. Everything the app does happens on your device (Mac or iPhone). No personal data is ever sent to us or to any third-party AI service.
Tunnel.ai records audio only when you press the record button, transcribes it using a speech-recognition model that runs entirely on your device, and stores the recordings and transcripts locally on your device. Nothing is uploaded anywhere. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no servers operated by us. We have no way to access your audio or your notes.
All speech-to-text transcription runs on your device using the open-source Whisper model (via WhisperKit). The optional "AI Cleanup" feature, which fixes misheard names and jargon using your own vocabulary list, runs on Apple's on-device Intelligence model and also stays entirely on your device. No audio, transcript, or other personal data is sent to any third-party AI service, cloud AI service, or to us.
On first launch, and again only if you choose a larger model size, the app downloads the open-source transcription model from Hugging Face, a public file-hosting service. This is a download only: none of your content is sent. After the download, the app works fully offline.
If you use iCloud, the custom words and corrections you add (not your notes, and not your audio) sync across your own devices through your personal iCloud account. This is handled by Apple within your account. These words are never sent to us or to any third party.
All notes and recordings live in the app's local storage on your device. Deleting a note in the app deletes its recording. Uninstalling the app removes its data, subject to standard system behaviour.
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date.
